Coastal Volleyball Club Outdoor Summer Program 2008
Frequently asked Questions
I have never played outdoor volleyball before, Do I need experience to play?
NO- We want you to learn this game and will have coaches available to help you learn. Think of it as a full day or night of "King or Queen of the court"
I cannot find a partner what do I do?
Our goal is to get you on the court having fun. We will try to pair you up with someone so you get to play. It may be a different level but you will still have fun and learn. So all you need to do is show up.
What do I wear?
It is suggested you wear Water Shoes for the grass as they grip well and gives you the feel of the court. Wear cloths that are comfortable and you don't mind getting stained by the grass.
What do I bring?
1. Bug Spray - we are in the woods od Dartmouth and it will be buggy
2. Water and Ice- There is no water (showers of bubblers) at the facility. There is a bathroom but without water.
3. Hat and sunglasses
4. A fun and great learning attitude
What will the competition be like?
We will offer several levels:
Junior Girls - 18's, 16's doubles and 14's and below 3' or 4's
Junior Boys - 18's and below
Adult Men- Intermediate Level competition (B and C levels for adults)
Adult Women - Intermediate Level competition (B and C levels for adults)
If you are looking for the Pro-Levels you will need to travel 30 to 50 miles to play in another league.
Can I help out?
YES we will need your help with court setup 1/2 hour before start time. Helpers play for FREE but must be approved by Dave.
Why is the price so cheap?
We want everyone to come experience outdoor volleyball and have fun.
What are our Goals?
Coastal is here to keep you playing and for you to continue learning to play and/or coach. We are under the USA Volleyball and NERVA player development pipeline and we hope in the near future to send some of our players and coaches to the Juniors National Beach / Outdoor Championships.
NERVA also will be hosting a USA Junior Outdoor High Performance Camp in the future and this summer program along with other NE Junior Club Summer Programs is the first step in this process.
What is the USA Junior Beach Tour about and is it coming to New England?
The USA Junior Beach tour is part of the USA Pipeline for player development. Coach Dave has met with Ali Wood, Director, International & High Performance Beach Programs and Denny Lennon, Director, Volleyball Programs for USA Volleyball and is working with them to secure a location for a stop in 2009. Although the tour states "Beach" tour it is in reality an "Outdoor" tour including all grass events such as Vail Colorado.
